Not even a little waterproof and it will short out if it gets wet, but when dry it will recover. I wear it over my Road ID band and this elevates it enough so that it does not get wet from sweat and turn off, which it used to do. I was running in South Florida, so it was frequently hot and humid.
I wore it at the Chicago Marathon, and it worked well for 8 miles, until my arm hit another runner's, and it jarred the battery loose. It is of flimsy construction, but it lasted for a 16 week marathon training series. Recently a piece came loose off the back and it took me a few days to figure out why it was no longer working. It is up and running again and ready for the next marathon in March. It's cheaper than running shoes and may last 2 marathons, rather than just one. If something better comes along let me know. I just saw an article on the Korg MM-1 MetroGnome which fits on the ear. Feel free to give that a try and see (hear) if it is any better.

Back in '94 or '95 I had a Casio Watch that had a "Pace" keeper feature on it and it was fabulous! It was THE best running tool I ever had. For the military I had to achieve a certain run time and this watch helped me help others that weren't runners to achieve their goals. Casio stopped making the watch and once my band broke I thought (good old American throw away concept) I'll just buy another one...no such luck. It didn't require recharging, it was a Casio Watch. I wrote to Casio and asked why they quit making it and it came down to supply and demand. I say we all create a demand.

Yes the watch still works. Whether it is worth it is up to the buyer. It was worth it to me. I can feel the vibration while running, but I have to focus on it sometimes. Sometimes it starts to blend in with the vibration of my arms as am rythmically impacting the ground. But I think you should be able to feel it while drumming. But the vibration lasts slightly longer than a beep or tick. I am not sure how that would affect your drumming.
