Since most of my running has been on a treadmill, I have simply filled a couple water bottles, and put them in the drink holders. Very convenient. But when I went out for a run yesterday, I took a fanny pack, and stuffed it with a couple 16oz bottles of water. They flopped around a bit, and it wasn’t the most comfortable. I decided to investigate some Camelbak hydration systems, and also hip packs with water bottles, etc. I stopped at the sporting goods store last night, and they had a small selection of Camelbak’s. The Camelbak Alterra looked good, but I was also looking at the Camelbak Catalyst. I also saw some interesting belts with water bottles, but I liked the Camelbak water systems better. But I didn’t buy one there. I wanted to go online and read about them. I went to the Camelbak web site, and they showed different categories of water packs. I chose running, and they had several. They had the Alterra, and Catalyst, but also a model named FlashFlo. The Alterra held 28oz, and was designed for trail running. The Catalyst also held 28oz. But the FlashFlo held 45oz, and also had some storage for snacks. This seemed to be interesting. I started researching the FlashFlo. I found one on sale for $20, but in looking around I found it looked different than other FlashFlo’s. Apparently, they redesigned the FlashFlo for 2006, and this one was the old model. I don’t know what they changed, but I assume they made changes for a reason, such as to fix problems. I searched some more, and found a 2006 model for about $28, so I went ahead and ordered it. I figure I can use it for running, as well as hiking.
