I remembered that my friend was planning on running a half marathon at the Rochester Marathon. I figure I am going to be running next weekend anyway, so I singed up to run the half marathon too. My friend doesn’t know I have been running much less training for a marathon. I know she is going to be there, but who knows if I will actually even see her. It will still be fun. I registered for the half marathon, then suddenly though about how the heck I am going to get back. I looked and found the half marathon ends at Frontier Field, but actuallt starts elsewhere. But fortunately it turned out that my wife has the day off. So she can drop me off, and pick me up. It will be fun. I should have my new heart rate monitor then, and it will be fun to play with. I will just take a nice easy run, keeping my heart rate below 70% (Karvonen method), and then maybe take it up to 75% at the halfway point if I am feeling good. I am not planning on “Racing”. I am training to complete the Las Vegas Marathon in December, so this is a training run, and I am just going to have fun. This will also give me experience of running in a race like this.
