After running the half marathon, I wished I had some pictures. There are the official photos available on the race website, but they are ridiculously priced. And there only a few of them. I would love to have pictures of the race from my point of view.
I have a nice 8mp Nikon digital camera, but it is kind of expensive, and I don’t want to risk breaking it with 26.2 miles of bouncing around. And frankly, I don’t need all of the features, and stuff available on the camera to take some snapshots along the race. I also have an older 1.3mp HP camera. I thought about bringing this. And I still might. It is a little on the large side. But it takes good pictures, and if it breaks, I won’t be heartbroken.
I ordered a small 1.3mp digital camera. It is very small, has no flash, or zoom. It will hold about 50 pictures in the 1.3mp mode, which is more than enough. Reading reviews, it needs to be held still to take pictures. Since I have no fantasies about winning a marathon, and will likely be finishing between 4.5-5 hours with periodic walking breaks, stopping to snap a photo now and then during the race, wont kill my time. Since I want to race in the Las Vegas, and I sure there will be lots of interesting things to see. I have read they will have 26.2 Elvis impersonators running the race. The little camera comes with a lanyard that I can hang around my neck. Though that might be awkward having it flop around while I am running. I will work something out. If it comes soon enough, I might be able to try it out during my upcoming off-road duathlon race.
