As I was getting towards the end of my 11 mile run last Sunday, my nipples were getting sore. I had heard about this happening. They were rubbing against the inside of my shirt. The shirt I was wearing was a Nike Sphere Dry shirt that has kind of a rough texture. It supposedly has more surface area for moisture to evaporate, but meanwhile it became increasingly more and more uncomfortable as I ran. I am going to run a half marathon this coming Sunday, and need to find a solution. I had ordered another shirt which came yesterday. I was hoping it would have a smoother material, and be kinder, gentler to my nipples, but alas, it was a compression fit thing that I am not ready to be seen in public in. I may go down to Dick’s Sporting Goods tonight and buy yet another Nike shirt, but a regular Dri-Fit shirt, and not the Sphere Dry. They seem smoother. I have read that some guys put bandaids over their nipples, but that seems kind of weird!

Doing various searches on the net, I read that some guys have had luck wearing Under Armour compression type shirts. I went to the local sporting good store, but didn’t see any Under Armour shirts. They did have Nike Pro compression type shirts, so I bought one. Unlike the one I bough on ebay, this one was sized XL, and was purple. Make sure you try these types of shirts on before you buy them. I wore it for a little bit for a run on the treadmill. It was comfortable enough, but got warm, so I took it off. I generally run on the treadmill wearing only running shorts, shoes and socks, otherwise I get too warm.
I wore the Nike Pro shirt when I ran the half marathon last weekend, and it was great! No nipple soreness at all! I didn’t have place bandaids over my nipples, or slather on any bodyglide, or vaseline, or anything.
